Strap: Team inspired to work closely with farmers to better understand their needs during hybrid evaluation.
Field crop tours are crucial to the creation of commercial hybrids. They allow for the evaluation of the product by a cross-functional team comprising members from the breeding, product development, and sales departments in a farmer's field. Another key feature of a tour is the face-to-face famer interactions it facilitates.
This season's Field Crop Tour in Andhra Pradesh offered all this and more. Our CMD, Mr Senthilnathan S, and COO (Field Crop), Mr Ravi Kumar, accompanied the Product Development team to Guntur. The session included a visit to PD trials, new product exposure demos, and inspection of newly commercialised hybrids. Performance demos were also conducted by the PD and sales teams to understand hybrid performance using a head-to-head comparison of pre-harvest and harvest data alongside competitor hybrids.
A AHC 3318 field day in Chiruvarru village of Nuttakki area was also organised as part of the tour, where the team interacted with 85 ACSEN HyVeg farmers. Farmers were impressed with hybrids’ performance and asked for our support in mechanical harvesting techniques.
